1. Taylor Swift
In addition to writing “The Best Day” about her mom, Taylor has praised her mom numerous times. Here’s her description of why she decided to pen the track about the woman who raised her:
“She would just take me on these adventures and we would drive around and go to towns we’d never seen before. Those adventures and those days of just running away from my problems — you’re not supposed to run away from your problems, but when you’re 13 and your friends won’t talk to you and they move when you sit down at the lunch table, and your mom lets you run from those problems, I think it’s a good thing … My mom was my escape in a lot of ways.”
2. Beyoncé
Beyoncé has paid tribute to her mom in numerous ways — most recently on Instagram after Tina Knowles’ WACO Theater fundraiser — but it was this quote to Oprah that really says it all.
“[My mom] is one of those people that you feel honored to meet. And no matter who you are, you fall in love with her because she is spiritual, she's inspiring, she's strong, she's funny, she's creative, she's talented... she's everything that I want to be.”

Harry has always been super close with his mum, Anne Twist, but there’s one moment in particular that speaks volumes — it was early on in his career, when she told him that he’ll always be her baby. Anne told Harry, “I love you very much,” and Harry replied, “I love you too.” It might not seem like much, but the emotion on their faces — Harry’s, in particular, who looked like he might cry — really said it all.

Perhaps the most telling quote about just how much Justin respects his mom was when he was on the outs with her.

Austin’s mom Michele raised him as a single parent after his dad died when he was just a toddler. He dedicated his official book to her, writing: “This book is dedicated to my mom, who has sacrificed so much for me. After Louis Tomlinson’s mum, Johannah Deakin, passed away from cancer earlier this year, Louis revealed that it was hard to go on. “But it was my mum who said to me that I've just got to keep going," he told Billboard. "She told me very sternly that she wanted me to.” And he did just that, dedicating his performance of “Just Hold On” on “The X Factor” to his mum.

Along with some of the other artists on this list who penned songs for their moms, Ed Sheeran revealed that “Supermarket Flowers” is actually about his late grandma — told from his mum’s point-of-view.
“It was just so spot on and the lyric of ‘you are an angel in the shape of my mom’, that could end upping a poignant line but it was the truth. … She was one of the nicest women you’d ever meet and she was my mom’s mom. It was written for my mom’s point of view.”
