With a little help from his friends.

Stephen Colbert's final episode of The Late Show on Thursday (May 21) received a very special performance from a few famous pals to close out the show.

Paul McCartney showed up as a surprise guest, where he performed the iconic Beatles hit "Hello, Goodbye." The performance also featured Colbert himself on backup vocals, as well as Elvis Costello, Jon Batiste, and the show's band.

Notably, the "Band on the Run" singer's appearance at The Ed Sullivan Theatre marked his return to the venue, after the Fab Four originally played there in 1964 during The Ed Sullivan Show.

The music icon's Late Show performance follows his Saturday Night Live guest spot from May 16, where he delivered a three-song set of both new and classic material.

McCartney performed new track "Days We Left Behind" off his upcoming album The Boys of Dungeon Lane, which can be watched here. Set to drop May 29, the aforementioned album will also feature a duet with former bandmate Ringo Starr, entitled "Home to Us."
